Robert Sloan

Director

With a strong architectural background, Rob brings to the table over 30 years’ experience in the property industry. He has successfully delivered commercially focused outcomes in a range of business sectors; and from architectural, project management, property and facility management perspectives.

Through his career, Rob has enjoyed a variety of hands-on roles in a range of property sectors.

His working life began as a graduate architect with the Capital Works Department at Deakin University. After successfully registering as an architect, Rob went on to fulfill senior roles in several Melbourne architectural practices. This gave him valuable experience in delivering projects throughout a range of sectors from education, retail, multi-residential, commercial office through to industrial. In 2001, Rob was headhunted into a frontline role with the prestigious redevelopment of the 150-year-old State Library of Victoria. During this time, Rob also led the in-house facility management division, delivering two $50m stages of the redevelopment. He also secured a partnership with Ballarat University to develop an off-site storage facility for the vast library collection.

From there, Rob was appointed State Operations Manager at Jones Lang LaSalle’s projects services division. While there, he secured the Australia Post national program management team account, which saw the delivery of more than $70m of retail refurbishment works around Australia over a two year period.

After fulfilling a short role in developing a new property advisory business within Meinhardt Engineers, Rob was invited to start up the Victorian Office of Colliers International’s project services team. Over four years, he successfully built a team to five people, and delivered more than 150 projects, while growing strong relationships with local, national and global clients.

Rob established Akt. Project Management in April 2019 after 4.5 successful years as a founding partner at Volo Projects. During this period, both businesses have been responsible for employing 11 team members and delivering over 70 projects equating to 750,000 sq.m. across Australia.
